Git Gud

The idea is to intentionally make a game with very difficult puzzles, that includes save and undo, buuuuttttt... the hint system extracts a price. 

First of all, the help system doesn't give a hint to the existing puzzle, but simply solves the puzzle in an unexpected way.

A loud bang and a searingly bright flash of light momentarily stuns and blinds you. As your vision clears, you see a sizzling hole punched through the locking mechanism of the Armory door, which has now crept slightly open on its hinges. Confused, you look around before you notice moonlight streaming in through a neat hole punched into the roof above. Checking on your suspicion, you confirm a similiar-sized sizzling hole in the floorboards a few feet behind the armory door.

A meteorite has just fallen in the most fortuitous fashion. What great luck!

The beauty of this means that getting help to get past a given obstacle doesn't actually reveal the original solution to the puzzle. Which means that this can't then be shared with other players. Someone must first legit solve the puzzle before its solution can be shared.

Additionally, the help genie exacts a price for its gifts. Sacrifice one of your 5 save slots or the ability to undo to receive such help. That way, you have to carefully weigh whether you want to lose a save slot or the undo to advance, or if you'd rather put more effort into solving the puzzle first.

This game will cause people to kill their own save and undo, which is deeply funny to me, because this is somewhere peeps have circled the metaphorical wagons.

I was also thinking about offering follow-up options if you run out of saves and undo. Like, to get another help, you can introduce a hunger daemon or a maze into the game.

Basically all the shit people say YOU CAN NOT INCLUDE THIS IN PARSERS ANYMORE. And make it entirely optional. Don't want any of that? Alright then, git gud.
